The story so far…

The Chip Shed began with a simple mission: to bring proper British fish and chips to some of the UK’s most loved towns, serving great food to the wonderful people who live in and visit them. We opened our first shop in Warwick in 2016. With Warwick Castle just a short stroll away, it quickly became a go-to spot for locals, day-trippers, and anyone craving top-quality fish and chips.

In 2019 we brought The Chip Shed to the Cotswolds, opening in the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. With its charming riverside setting and steady flow of visitors, Bourton welcomed us with open arms, and we've been proud to serve the community ever since.

In 2023, we opened in Cheltenham, right in the vibrant Montpellier district. Surrounded by independent shops, festivals, and that unmistakable Cheltenham buzz, this spot has quickly found its place among the town’s favourites.

Most recently in 2024, we expanded to Stratford-upon-Avon, setting up shop on Bridge Street in the heart of town. Whether people are coming for the theatre, the history, or just a brilliant bite to eat, we’re proud to be part of such an iconic place.

Wherever we’ve opened, our aim has been the same: to serve proper fish and chips made with care, in great locations, to great people.

The Crew Behind the Crisp

The Chip Shed started with two fish and chip fanatics and a shared dream: to serve proper, no-nonsense British fish and chips — the way they should be. One had the brains, the other had the brawn (we’ll let you guess who’s who), but both had a serious love for great food. Dan, some business/marketing guy who keeps things running smoothly (mostly) teamed up with Gregg, a bona fide industry legend and fish-frying guru. Together, they brought The Chip Shed to life in 2016.

On the front lines, we’ve got our superstar managers keeping the fryers sizzling and standards sky-high:

Jim - Area Manager
Serg, Lidia & Ben -
Bourton on the Water.
Victor & Ozy - Cheltenham
Alan and Ciara - Stratford Upon Avon
Georgina, Michelle and Marcel - Warwick

With years of experience, sharp instincts, and a shared obsession with top-tier fish and chips, they make sure every portion is spot on — every single time.

What’s next?

So, what’s next for The Chip Shed? Well, we’re not about to reinvent the wheel — we just want to keep doing what we do best: serving proper fish and chips to as many hungry people as possible.

Our goal is simple: to bring our crispy, golden goodness to more great towns, more lovely locals, and more visitors who appreciate the beauty of a well-fried fillet. We’re always on the lookout for the right locations — places with character, charm, and a big appetite for quality.

Whether it’s a coastal hideaway, a buzzing city street, or another market town that needs a bit more crunch in its life, we’re working behind the scenes to make it happen. One perfectly battered cod at a time.
